Fees & Funding
Our latest information on fees and funding when studying at Degree Centre Weymouth
Bournemouth University Film - The Facts About Fees
Fees for full-time students applying for a Foundation degree starting in September 2012:
You will probably be aware that Higher Education tuition fees will change from September 2012. Our partner universities have now been confirmed the fees for their Foundation degrees delivered at partner colleges and are as follows:
University of Plymouth £6000
Bournemouth University £6000
University of Bath £7500
The cost of studying on a Foundation degree is considerably less than the standard university undergraduate fee. At the end of your two years of study you have the option to apply to progress to top-up to a full BA/BSc Honours degree.
All home and EU students (regardless of household income) can borrow up to the full tuition fee for their course from the Student Loans Company. Therefore, you won't have to pay anything towards the cost of your tuition until you have graduated and can afford to do so.
• If you are studying for your first university-level qualification you can get a loan from the government to cover the cost of your tuition fees whilst you are studying.
• You will only start to pay back this student loan after you have left university and you are earning over £21,000 a year. If your earnings fall beneath £21,000 a year – for example if you are between jobs, return to study, or take parental leave, your payments will stop.
• Payments are deducted from your salary in the same way as taxes and national insurance. All outstanding payments will be written off after 30 years.
• Repayments are set at 9 per cent of income above £21,000. So on a salary of £25,000, the 9 per cent would apply to £4,000 of income and this would equate to a repayment of £30 per month.
